Trying to replace the eyebrow trim on the passenger side, and it seems like there are no nuts on the studs that hold the trim in place. I've spent the last hour trying to get a socket on them, and I've tried every small size I have from 3/16 to 5/16 and they're either too big or too small. The only size I didn't have was 7/32...is that what I need, or am I overlooking something?

Well, clearly there are no fasteners on those posts. Even with the nuts removed, I've had the cut threads on the posts catch on the edges of the holes and the piece acts like it is still held on somehow. Unless it was glued in place, you will have to resort to brute force. I use a rod and small hammer to tap on the ends of the posts to work it loose. A piece of wood also works.

What's the easiest way to get the speed nuts onto the posts without dropping them? I tried for an hour last night but the space is so tight, I got nowhere.

I use a deep six point socket and a long extension. Stick the nut into the socket using tape or thick grease or some sort of stickem.

 

1/4 or 3/8 drive?

 

 

I doubt it really matters. I've always used a 3/8s there.
