Just wondering if this vehicle is worth the restoration ? It's a original Hawaii car. The sea erosion has taken a toll on it over the years. Thanks for any advice!
Wow....I am from Chicago and I have never seen anything even close to that rotten.
If it were me I would strip it down and part it out. If the body is that bad the frame can't be very good. It would cost WAY more than that car is worth to fix it.
The engine, trans and rear end should get you something along with the console, shifter (with the cable and trans brackets and shift arm on the trans), speedometer (because it's for a floor shift....no gear indicator on it), wheels, the steering column and steering wheel. The seats need work but you could still get something for them. If it has front disc brakes that would be worth taking as well.
To me the rest of the car is a wash and should be junked. There might be some other good parts, but nothing that looks to be worth all that much. Some of the interior part could be salvageable, but that would be up to you to decide.
It's surely not worth trying to sell the car as a whole because it's just not worth it as it sits.
Stripping the valuable parts off of this car would also be a challenge. Steel fasteners corroded into the plastic console is just one example. I'm sure the shifter is going to have some extensive corrosion as well.
