1969 Supreme Holiday Coupe Vinyl Top Question
Restoring a 1969 Cutlass Supreme Holiday Coupe, installing a black vinyl top. Car came from the factory with the vinyl top and i have all of the correct trim for it. I did not remove the old top as that was done before i purchased the project. Question is on the trunk lid there is a piece of trim on the trunklid about 1" down from the glass edge. There is also a strip of trim along the glass with a channel on it. It appears that the trunk lid gets a piece of vinyl. does anyone know how this should be applied does it just wrap the edge of the decklid? any explanation or photos of a 69 supreme trunk with a vinyl top would be very helpful. thanks

I also thought that vinyl top material was applied to the trunk OEM. Not so for 68-69s The trunk in fact gets a simulated vinyl textured metal piece that caps the top of the trunk and slips under the stainless. I have pics somewhere. I also purchased one for mine. Seems the top installers find it easier to junk the metal pieces and wrap them with vinyl vs taking time to paint/restore the metal.
The vinyl can be wrapped under the lip.
I'll try to get some pics of both.

I have deleted vinyl tops on 69 Cutlass and 442 over the years. I know for sure the part you mention is a stamped steel cover embossed with the look of vinyl. It gets painted to match color of top. It hooks over the edge of trunk lid and slides under stainless molding that snaps onto deck lid. I sold one in recent months on eBay. I may be able to find you another.
