Wheel well trim difference 1970-1972 Cutlass Supreme

I am in the middle of a repaint of a 70 supreme and need to either fix or replace the rear wheel well moldings. While exploring options I thought I could use some spares I have from other past projects. I was surprised to find that the moldings on the 70 are shorter than the others I have. Although everywhere I look online at the repops they only offer one set for all Supremes 70-72. So do I have an odd ball car or something? Are the quarters different? The molding I have from a 72 will fit in there with a little overhang and the holes don't line up so I would rather have the originals straightened or buy some decent used ones.

Any help on this one is appreciated.

Eric

70 and 71 Supremes have the shorter wheel well mouldings in order to line up with the wide stainless/pot metal side mouldings running the length of the car. Those side mouldings were discontinued in 72 Supremes and therefore all S and Supremes in 72 used the full wheel well mouldings, as did the 70 and 71 S models. Your 3/4 short ww mouldings are correct for a 70 Supreme. I believe the repro ww mouldings must be cut to fit a 70 and 71 Supreme.

The 70-71 Supreme models with the wide side chrome molding use a shorter wheel well lip trim than the "other" cars. This style ended at the bottom of the side side molding whereas the others went to the bottom of the fender opening.

Thanks for the replies. I never noticed how the trim lined up, it's all off the car now and cant visualize it. But I suppose it makes sense in the designers eyes. As usual the repop masters advertise their products as being correct for a car and they really aren't. Now to decide which is more economical, fixing what I have or finding some good used ones. This isn't a show car so not looking to spend high dollar.

I have a few of the 70-71 Supreme wheel well trim if your needing them.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...less-trim.html

I could sell them separate from the other trim, unless you need them too.
