Will this molding work on a 72 Cutlass Supreme?

Will this molding work on a 1972 Cutlass Supreme? I'm seeing the parts brand new on Fusick thanks to some help on this forum but I'm only seeing them being sold for the 70-71 but not the 1972. Just want to be sure before I spend money on anything.

Yes it will, but you have to remember a couple of things.
1. It was never put on 72 cars
2. If you put this molding (typically I call it the SX molding because it was only on 70/71 SX cars), you also have to have the proper wheel opening moldings. That means getting the right ones (at a hefty cost) or cutting your stock ones to the right height to match the side trim.

If you have a 72? Save your money and spend it on something appropriate for the car.

I think I'll take your advice and stick with the original molding. Do you have any idea if the 72 molding comes in all chrome without the black rubber insert?

Those side chrome moldings were on all Cutlass Supreme models in 70 and 71. The only different trim for an SX was the SX emblems. Olds simplified the 72 Supreme by trimming it like a Cutlass "S". They removed all the exclusive wide chrome side moldings, put on the full wheel cut out moldings, and added the rocker moldings, along with the addition of vinyl strips on the side. In 1972, they decontented the halo vinyl top moldings that were exclusive to the Supreme in 70 and 71, saving them a few bucks. They did a similiar thing in 1970, by taking carpet off the Supreme model kick panels that were offered on the 68 and 69 Supremes. Typical cost cutting, car manufacturers do, that most won't notice when they hit the showroom floors.
