Underhood Insulation install

Hi guys, looking to install my underhood insulation on my 64 F85, and I have the new material and square plastic clips. Does this also get glued underhood, perhaps with 3M spray or equivalent? The clips will allow some sag, and actually they don't stay popped in so well. I may have to modify the clips a bit or source the metal version.

Hope I posted this in the right section. As I recall scraping off the old torn up stuff years ago, it was either glued up or just stuck with crud and blown engine oil!

When I installed a new insulation pad on my '67 Delta 88, I used both new clips and that 3M spray-on adhesive. This was a couple of years ago, and it has held up (ha ha) very well.

The fact that you had to scrape the old one off suggests it was stuck on with adhesive as well. It was not likely sprayed engine oil as why would that be sticky?

Ok Jaunty,

I was thinking I should use an adhesive and hope it will "hold up". Nice pun...

As to the oil the old 330 must have had a major meltdown as when I got the car it looked like a caked on oil bloodbath had taken place underhood. And I really appreciate the previous owner who did body work by stuffing newspaper, roofing tin and bondo over rust. And the caked on rubberized undercoating sprayed everywhere to "fix" rust holes

Where did you guys source the under hood pads? Can I assume that are all the same? My Ninety Eight's pad is getting a little nasty...

I got mine here. $24.99 plus shipping. Comes with the clips. Fits and looks just fine. Says it's made in the USA.

Mine came from www.usapartssupply.com. Also reasonable, clips were inexpensive and shipped to my door within about four days.
