PUI Window felts for 1971 442

Hello all,

Has anyone had any issues with the window felts for a '71 442? I ordered parts from The Part Place, their part number WS4756T
"(1970 - 1972 Cutlass/442) WINDOWFELT KIT "S" 2 DOOR HARDTOP (8 PIECES) - OEM"
I received PUI felts, their part number 0242-1. They do not fit the rear quarter for the outside felt. The radius at the back of the window is considerably different. Looked at possibly bending them to make them fit but the stainless steel extends all the way through the width of the strip so it makes it impossible to bend. Would have to slit at multiple spots and that would reduce the integrity of the felt stiffness.

The mounting holes were also off but I can deal with that by drilling new holes.

See pics below.

Has anyone else had this problem with the PUI felts?

Thanks,

MLK-442

Maybe they sent you the felts for the wrong car? Not sure about felts, but all the interior parts (Carpets, seat covers and other misc stuff) i've ordered from parts place have needed a little bit of caressing before they fit in perfectly.

I got a set of OEM ones for my Supreme from either them or brothers (REPOPS brand in wellow box) and both outer rear felts were not formed right. However, the curve difference was in the middle sections on mine, not on the edge like yours.
I ended up having to cut the metal at the bottom to allow it to flex enough to make it sit right. Did not like it but it worked.

I have had the same issue - outside parts, too. I usually have to caress them with power tools... Their rear power window regs must have been for a 63 Merc...

Window felt kit

I see this is an old thread But did you ever find a better fitting set? I also need a set for a 72 442 2 door hardtop and found PUI had the same problem as you did. Thanks
