How do these molding clips work?

I have a loose door molding on my rear passenger door of my 1970 98. I have the replacement clip but I don't know how it hooks to the molding. I know it screws through the door but how does it lock into the molding? the old ones broke so they are not a good example.

The oval body snaps/slides into the backside of the trim, and the outstanding leg also goes into the trim to wedge the clip into place. It's similar to this photo, but obviously with the female threads instead of the stud.

Thank you, I tried the Fisher Body Manual but it didn't say.
