I have a very original/stock 1969 Cutlass 442 Convertible with a turbo 400 trans. The original color code is Platinum/Silver Exterior with Red Interior.
The previous owner did NOT paint the car Platinum and went Red on the exterior, and didnt add any stripes/decals on the car, so it's something I wanted to do (becuase I prefer that look).

1) What options do I have for Stripes or pinstriping on the hood, or trunk (if that was an option on 69), or sides (I believe the 68 442's came with a side decal option, but not the 69)???
2) I'd like the car to be as original as possible, so I will only add the options that my year/make/model came with.
3)I also need the color options of the stripes that came with my Plat/Red codes. I assume the stripes would be BLACK only, but would love to know if RED stripes were a factory option. RED stripes or pinstripping would look cool if I ever paint the car back to the original Platinum.
4)Also, can I add Vinyl stripes/decals on hood, or trunk? This might be a good solution for the current Red paint. If so, does anyone know where I can buy a Vinyl decal set? I can't find a 1969 442 Viynl Decal/Stripe Kit anywhere on the web.

W42 stripes look like the ones I need, just on the hood. thanks for the specs. too bad I can't find a vendor that sells this viynl kit.

Back in '69 these stripes were applied with paint. If you have a '69 assembly manual, check out manual section 1/4, pages 400 (W42 stripe), 401 (Y73 pin stripes), and 402 (rear deck paint stripe that goes with either W42 or Y73 hood stripes). As mentioned in another forum, my '69 originally came with the Y73 pin stripes and you can hardly see them. When I repainted, I went with the W42 stripes and they are clearly visible for miles!
