Front crank case leak?
Front crank case leak?
Ever since I got my '66 Jetstar 88, it leaks oil out of the bottom-front part of the engine. It doesn't do it constantly, only for a day or two after its been run. I did a little research and I think it could be the front crank case gasket? I found a guy to fix it, but I also want to put a different cam in this engine (425) so would it make sense for him to do both since he'd be working around the same place?
Most likely front seal. All gasketing and seal in that area would be disturbed during cam replacement, so do it all at once. Also use sleeve on vibration dampner seal. Your guy should know this.
Ok thanks. I've done a bunch of research on figuring out whether my engines bank angle is 39 or 45, but I'm still not sure which one it is. Also do I need to replace my lifters or anything else with a new cam?
Uhm, NYET
that's a whole 'nother can of worms. When last heard, a OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT which could be really simple, has turned into pulling the front cover, dropping the oil pan, and now the intake is off to replace the lifters.
At no time did this "mistasell" into taking the heads off.
Restraint, please.
