Shaving cream in the water jacket??
The Mondello tech centre web site there is an article called " Rebuilding your first engine" in it on the last page after "Final engine assembling" is.................................
"The cylinder head water jackets need to be blown out thoroughly to remove any dust, dirt
or rust scales. If your water jackets have a lot of debris still left in them, use some shaving cream
(Gillette Foamy is the best)"
What's up with the shaving cream??? Does it clean the water jacket? Does it show leaks faster??
Thanks

I saw that "tip" on Horsepower TV. The idea is the shaving cream will keep debris from the cooling ports from falling into the engine when you bolt them on. The shaving cream will dissolve in the coolant, leaving the crap in the cooling passages to collect elsewhere. This seems to me like putting a Band-aid on a gunshot wound, or wiping before you poop, or any other saying you would like to use. It seems to me it would be much better to CLEAN the part before assembly than try to keep debris from critical places.
