Head bolts vs. water jacket

Can someone please confirm the headbolts on my '73 455 do not penetrate the water jacket at any location? I have lamped the holes, and see no indication, but the set of "C" heads I bought to replace my smoggers had remnants of the white, teflon-type sealant in the holes. It's my first rebuild, and I am a little concerned with what I saw. Thanks.

Someone else added the sealant. The factory oiled the bolts. No head bolt goes into water.

Since header bolts are notorious for loosening, I'll bet that what you saw was some sort of thread locking compound - undoubtedly baked white by the heat.
