Has anyone used the 2 piece front engine covers? And what kind of luck have you had? Sounds like a pretty good idea and a big time saver if you have to make future repairs or upgrades.

You will get mixed opinions on this,but I would never run one.They are supposed to aid in the process of a cam change,but I would want to swap the cam with the engine in the car anyway.I know not everyone has access to an engine dyno,but that is where I make sure I have the right cam.I have checked my timing chain for stretch before,and I didn't have any issues getting my stock 1-piece cover off,then back on & sealed.It still has not leaked anywhere in 12 years.

 

With the 2 piece cover cam timing changes were expidited

 

I'm going to try the 2-piece on my current build, because I know I'm going to end up swapping the cam later. I'm cutting one and welding a tab.

I have used the split cover for 39 years. I just sawzall it across the uper big bolt holes and seal with ultra RTV. No leaks or problems. I also dimple the oil slinger in line with the timing mark because you can't see the mark on the gear with the bottom part of the cover installed.

 

You hit another one on the head Rund.Most people still find that they need to remove the bottom half,unless they plan ahead.If you have a sloppy chain,then it all comes off anyway.I run the Rollmaster billet chains with great success.
