Connecting rod bolts

hey guys i have had this bugging me in the back of my head for a while so i decided to ask u guys for help. i replaced my connecting rod bolds with some ARP in the assembly manual it says to tighten the bolts between 35 ft/lbs and 42 ft/lbs but the arp bolts had a paper in there that said i should tighten them to 55ft/lbs

i ended up tightening them to 55 and let them be. my engine is not in yet and i am wondering if i should have tightened them that much or just gone with what the assembly manual said on the new bolts?

First of all did you just install the bolts in the rods or did you have them properly resized by a machine shop? Send you go by the ARP specs not the factory manual. The best way is with a stretch gauge but I have just followed ARP's torque specs and never had an issue. Make sure to use thier assembly lube on the bolts.

If ARP recommend 55lb-ft then I'm sure that is correct. Every item they sell carries their reputation, and I'm not about to second guess their expertise.
You should be good to go.

Roger.
