I am installing a 2 cylinder air compressor onto my 1970 455 Olds engine. This is so I can get power brakes back in my truck. Like most truck compressors it must be plumbed into the engine for coolant and oil for lubrication. I have the oil feed and oil return lines figured out. That will be easy.

What I can't seem to think of is what I can tap into for the coolant supply and return line?

for the brakes you need a vacuum pump. have you tries a larger vacuum reservoir? that may be all you need.

 

I believe his truck has compressed oxygen powered brakes......for coolant lines try the heater hose attachments...

That's something like I was going to use, couldn't find it though as I had no idea it was called a sandwich adapter. Thanks! The truck has standard hydraulic brakes but they are assisted by compressed air instead of engine vacuum, this air power comes from the Air Pak or Air Hydraulic Cylinder.

I tried to remove the heater core on the rear of the intake and I simply could not get it to move. Today I may try heating the threads up with a torch, always works!

 

Dont know wich intake you have, but most of them have several threaded holes on the front wich are plugged,except the one for the temp.sensor.

 

Another question, will the radiator that came with this truck be sufficient for my application? It's a 1967 Harrison down flow 2 core and aside from being plugged with sediment and crap it's in great shape. I currently have it off right now. I have straightened every single fin and there's only a couple bent tubes. This one has the tranny cooler lines on the bottom too. The summers here can get up to 117 and I want to be darn sure things are cooling properly. The 455 has the stock 6 blade clutch fan and there is no fan shroud. I will be giving it a THOROUGH flush job before it goes back on the truck.

A two row doesn't sound like much of a rad for a 455...a rad in a Cutlass is about 28 inches wide and 20 inches tall, with four rows with A/C ...if your rad has a greater area then it might be OK but I would consider something a little more adequate... My neighbour has a ten wheel drive tractor that looks like your truck that he races up and down the fields with pulling a 45' trailer, but we won't be seeing that one until spring...I could check his rad situation and see what gives...I think it has a six in it...
