67 442 Engine

Picked up an engine this weekend for my car. My car had a 330 in it when I bought it years ago. Wanted to at least have a correct engine for the car as a spare, building a 455 currently. Anyway, the engine had been sitting awhile and had three bent pushrods, guess someone tried to start it recently. As long as there is no cracks anywhere, I assume it's rebuildable. Lots of rust but mostly surface. The cylinder walls look okay. I need to pull the pistons tonight. Couldn't pass it up for $500. I'll keep the valve cover with the sticker on it as is, never seen an original or what looks like an original sticker.

It is from a 67-442 judging by the C heads. In case you don't already know, squirt penetrating oil like Kroil or Mopar rust penetrant spray around the bores. Knock out the pistons and rods by putting a rod against the bottom of the pin bore of a piston, not the bearing surface of the rod.

Very cool. I hope you're planning on bringing at least one of those to our show in Rockville on Aug 14:

I wish I could, both cars are apart. I already removed the 330 along with the whole front end to do some cleaning and detailing on the Cameo Ivory car. The Blue one is completely stripped, the engine is the only thing left to remove but do to lack of garage space, I left it in for now. I wanted to go to look around but I have a prior engagement. I do need to join one of the local Olds chapters though.

Thanks for the tip on removing the pistons. As far as being from a 67 442, the first thing I looked for besides the "E" block and "C" heads was the "V2XXXXXG" coding which it has on the right side head. Gee, now maybe I can get rid of the 66 442 engine I have
