Battery Voltages

I thought I'd give my 57 Olds battery a voltage check with the car ignition off verses on.

Off: the battery is 12.7V
On: the battery registers 14.5V

The battery seems to be in the "Good" range with the engine off. However, I am not so sure about the 14.5V with the ignition on. Is this voltage too high or within an acceptable charging range?

With the lights and heater fan on high, the reading should be no lower than 13.5 or thereabout. 14.5 is normal as said.
