F heads
F heads
I'm new to this site and Olds in general. The car I'm looking at and hopefully closing the sale on has a 455 with W30 intake and F heads? Can't find a lot of info on these heads? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
F heads are specific to the 1970 W30 cars. First thing is to make sure they are not Es with the bottom leg ground off. The casting number is above the center exhaust ports by the valve cover rail. Correct F heads are 404438.
The car is a 1970 Cutlass TRIBUTE W30? I was told by the guy who built it/owns it, that this was done about 20 yrs ago as he got a original 1970 W30 car that hit a pole HARD on passenger side door. Has red inner fenders, W30 hood, tach and gauges, F heads and alum W30 intake. He said the W27 was trashed as well the original T400 trans.

I sold a set, at a Olds Nat meet couple years ago, rebuilt, ready to install, for 3K, and sold them the first hour in the swap meet. Yes there worth money. This was a few years ago, the may be worth more today?
Just an update. Things are coming together for me to own this car, so more on that when the deposit changes hands. BUT I do not know what these heads are? No I did look to see if they were E's with the lower part ground off? Sure doesn't look like it? If so they did it pretty good. BUT casting numbers come out to G heads, 409100????

That is a nice looking car. If you happy and paid a price you deem as acceptable, that is all that matters. The casting numbers don't lie. I wonder why they changed G heads to look like the F heads? As said, E would be much easier. Check the carb and distributor numbers as well. The intake could be a reproduction and the seller totally FOS.
Great looking, sharp, ride! Welcome to Olds! Interesting move, making G heads look like F's. But as you mentioned, it was sold as a clone, so if you are happy with the whole enchilada, THAT is what matters!
Very happy. Don't like the ride with the bias plied tires. PW need some help. And being a clone I don't mind modifying it some and changing an original car. Will probably just install my Sniper on it and put the radials on. Build this fall.
Yep I agree really good fake. Even looks like tge ribs there as well. I was asked to post a picture so I did.
To me it don't really matter. Will port the helloutta whatever they are and probably the original intake unless I go single plane fir tge Sniper install.
