help with deep oil pan and dipstick reading
Hi, I am looking for some info from anybody using a 7.5 quart oil pan as to where on a stock 455 stick the level reads . I am not sure if I have 2 or three quarts in the engine so I added 4 and it is just showing on the stick .
The full level won’t change between pan depth. If it was full with the stock pan the full level will take more oil to reach the same level with the deeper pan.
Most people run run a deeper pan below full to keep the oil further from the rotating parts. Less windage, more power. Look at it like this, a 7 quart pan with the level reading a quart low still has more oil in the pan the a stock pan reading full.

Matt69, I understand about the amount of oil in the pan, just was looking to see if I will have to make an adjustment to the tube height to get a better reading on the dipstick, which as of right now the level was just barely showing on the stick.
HI, cutlass , It is mondello kit . I think it is 7 quart pan and with filter makes the 7.5 . Been while since I talked to you , but finally got the engine done and in the car .

On every aftermarket 7qt pan I’ve ever seen/used when the stick reads 1 qt low it’s normally full.
Think I figured it out . It would seem that the stick was riding on top of the baffle in the pan . I massaged the stick with a little more of a curve to the center of the engine and now it shows level at add line ,which is where like Cutlass said , makes sense as to full line.
