valve stem keepers
going to replace valve seals on my 1970 455 with E heads.would like to order new keepers in case the current ones are worn etc. new ones come in 7 degree or 10 degree.both say they fit my engine.i could order both but i would like to know which ones should be in there. heads are stock as far as i can tell

And do not replace the keeps if you're just doing stem seals. If the keeps are worn so is the valve stem. Now you gambling with sucking a valve.
Yes, inspect everything for excessive witness marks and then decide to replace things a "system" if anything fails inspection.
Keep(ha) the same keeps with the same spring retainer with the same valve stem.
So, in other words, strict attention to detail making sure each part goes back with the part it was born(broken in) with. Same goes for the pushrods.

Not sure about the others but every valve keeper that comes off a head in my shop goes in the scrap metal bin. I dont care if it is a 10 cent stock one or a $60 set of Crane Posistops. They simply do not get reused. Been doing it that way for over 32 years and have never had a problem. Cheap insurance.
