On replacing valve stem seals, you can use Ford 302/351 from the 80s on up for the positive seal instead of umbrella type. They do fit over the valve guide with no modification.

And do not replace the keeps if you're just doing stem seals. If the keeps are worn so is the valve stem. Now you gambling with sucking a valve.
Yes, inspect everything for excessive witness marks and then decide to replace things a "system" if anything fails inspection.
Keep(ha) the same keeps with the same spring retainer with the same valve stem.
So, in other words, strict attention to detail making sure each part goes back with the part it was born(broken in) with. Same goes for the pushrods.

Ok good advice, I’m just going to use umbrella seals for now and hopefully that’s fixes my fouling plug problem

Not sure about the others but every valve keeper that comes off a head in my shop goes in the scrap metal bin. I dont care if it is a 10 cent stock one or a $60 set of Crane Posistops. They simply do not get reused. Been doing it that way for over 32 years and have never had a problem. Cheap insurance.

That is my opinion only,

X2. New, good machined ones are inexpensive. No reason not to change them.
