67 400 in a 68 442

Wondering if anyone can provide any unfo regarding putting a 67 400 engine in 68 442. Will I have any issues with things hooking correctly? Pulleys, 4 speed linkage, transmission, drive shaft, water pump, alternater. I would be wanting to use all of 68 stuff on the 67 block actually. I think the crankshaft to flywheel pattern is different...anytthing else? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do you have an E-block already on hand, or are you specifically looking to install one? Because all things being equal, the obvious choice would be a 455. Same block, more displacement, longer stroke = more torque ...?

The two motors are externally identical. As you noted, you will need a 64-67 flywheel. Be sure the 67 crank is drilled for a pilot bearing if you plan to use a 4spd. Use the water pump, accessory brackets, and pulleys from the 68. The only other fundamental difference is the accelerator linkage. The 67 used a rod, the 68 used a cable. The carb is different as a result. If you are using the stock iron intake, the 67 intake won't accept the 68 choke stove that is needed to run the 68 carb to match the accelerator linkage. Of course, if you have an aftermarket intake then this doesn't apply.

Thanks for the comments. Another question will a 68 400 intake work on the 67 400?

The 68 intake will work. Use the crank damper ("harmonic balancer" and timing tab for the engine/crank you are using.
