1967 Delta 88, HC W/4BBL.

This car has a nice looking 2” dual exhaust all the way back except, that is, for the exhaust crossover under the engine and the whole thing goes through a single 2.5” pipe before becoming a dual. Question - should I throw headers on it to make a true dual, or would that ruin this torque monster? Just curious.

 

Headers for a 65-70 big Olds are d*mn near impossible due to placement of the steering box and rear steering linkage. There are more than few threads from people who've tried, & more than a few where Joe P explained why this is so hard.

The next best thing is the Thornton reproduction S manifold which duplicates the factory driver's side design. It dumps out into 2.25 duals onto which you can bolt 2.25 pipes or larger if you're interested. Then you just cap the passenger side.

The major gotcha on this factory setup is you'll need to find or fabricate a "half-moon" transmission shifter linkage to go over the driver's side exhaust pipe to replace the horizontal one which is probably there today. Unless you have a manual '88... There is a picture of this design around the 'net somewhere.

There are no headers for the 65-70 full size cars, period. There is insufficient market to justify making them, and the location of the steering box and linkage on these cars precludes easy fitment. As noted, just get the reproduction of the factory dual exhaust manifold. There are no other reasonable options for these cars.
