72 455 Cutlass fan blade, clutch & shroud help needed

I'd like to get advice on the best combination of fan blade and fan clutch combo.

Currently has a fixed blade with no clutch and the fan appears to be too small. Seems to be a 17" fan but with over 2.5" clearance between the blade and the shroud.

Another issue is that the bottom of the shroud appears to have been cut out. Any fix or simply buy a new shroud? Does this look right for the proper fit or is this another patchwork effort?

Looking for advice to get this corrected and operating well.

See pics... Thanks!!

The part number on that fan comes up as an aftermarket flex fan in a web search, so it's no wonder that it doesn't fit the shroud properly.
Those things don't move nearly enough air, so it's a good thing you are looking to replace it.

And that shroud definitely doesn't look the same as the one on my car (AC car same as yours).

I would look for a factory fan and shroud, then get a good quality clutch from the auto parts store.

Thanks, I had the same opinions as you. Where can I find a factory type fan and are the shrouds different for A/C vs non-A/C cars? Looks like only one style. I get the impression what I have is a patch fix...

Post in the Parts Wanted section. We have quite a few folks who part out cars and/or have a stockpile of parts they will sell.
