Coolant Tube

Ref the metal coolant tube that comes out of the thermostat housing, I'm using a edelbrock 2151 intake. The metal tube is press fit into thermostat housing which is aluminum also, my question is how tight should the tube fit?
There is some play in it, should I use some silicone to seal it? I'm worried that it may leak.
Thanks!

If the tube is loose, it will probably leak.

It will leak... Change the stat housing... I'm sure used ones are very plentiful at a reasonable price... New housing is less then $20 at NAPA...

I figured that or use silicon which I really didn't want to do. Thanks!

Silicone will not keep it from leaking.

I think a magnet would disagree with that statement.

Not necessarily Joe... Although, I did agree with you at first... Super Cars Unlimited has an aftermarket available...

The two dissimilar metals could be the reason the tube became loose, JMO....

I was not aware that there was an aftermarket aluminum version. As you know, all the factory ones with the pressed-in tube are iron. The earlier aluminum ones use the rubber "J" tube.
