Fuel line leaks
Fuel line leaks
I have a couple of small rust holes on my fuel line just in front of the rear tire where the line begins to run along the outside of the frame. Will it be alright to cut and run rubber hose from the tank to this spot, it would be about 2-3 feet of hose. Does someone know the PSI for that section (tank to fuel pump), I believe I read somewhere that the fuel pressure is around 7psi after the pump, would it be the same for before the pump? I would like to eventually install a new fuel line all together but I cannot figures out how one would go about this without lifting the body off of the frame, as the line runs along the outside of the frame between it and the rocker panel.
There is negative pressure before the pump. The proper fix would be to replace the hard line. Temporarily you can cut the bad section out and install the proper size fuel injection rubber hose and a couple of worm clamps.
Well, the thing is...I had a leak in the line a few years about 8 or so inches into the hardline after the hose that comes off the fuel tank, so I cut that section out and currently it has about 2' of rubber hose already coming off the tank to the hard line, so I would only be adding about 1' more of rubber hose. The other problem is that there is so little clearance between the frame and the rocker that I cannot get clamps on in that area and get the line back in place (if i just run 3 or so feet of hose ill only have to deal with getting one clamp to fit up in there). Is running a new hard line a pain in the a$$, like i said, I cannont see how one would do it without lifting the body off the frame. Thanks for the help!
Perhaps you could make a piece out of copper or aluminum with steel being the best and just splice it in to the original line with a short piece of rubber fuel line and clamps. This way you wont have feet of rubber line on the car...
