Just looking over the wiring in the engine bayon the 71 88 and noticed this little bracket....I dont think I unbolted it on the engine removal.....its attached to the starter wires and one wire the goes down to the trans.

That appears to be a bracket that would install on the driver's side valve cover, last bolt on the upper side. It will accept a clip for the harness that runs down to the starter and the metal tab sticking up will be a support for the metal pipe that runs over to the power brake booster. There is a small spring type clamp that goes around the metal pipe and the tab. If you look closely at the attached picture you can see the bracket and the green clamp.
