What are you using for coolant?

Just got my 71 442 up and running. Its been in storage in my back yard and hasnt been registered since 03. Changed oil, new gas, filters, wires, cap, rotor, tires, brakes. Thinking about changing coolant and want to put something in thats gonna protect against corrosion and low temps when its in cold storage. Is there a product that is better than others and what ratio (coolant/H2O) do you recommend?

50/50% water and Prestone. Then I check it with a gauge to see where it will freeze. It's been in your backyard since 03, and your just wondering now?

Prestone color "green" 50/50 distilled water. Somethings never change like coolant recommendations.

This should be good to -20.

This is what I use, too. I change it every 4-5 years at the most to keep the corrosion inhibitors fresh.

Peak with distilled water and set for -35 degrees here in Michigan never reaches that here.

Whatever you use, mix with distilled water.

Believe it or not, I buy my Olds' coolant at the Nissan dealership.

The key is that no matter what brand you use, get the undiluted version of it. Don't buy the 50/50 pre-mixed junk, you are paying for water. Get the 100% antifreeze jug and mix it with distilled water to your own 50/50 ratio.

Here in Texas, I ere to the side of more water than antifreeze...where you are, you might want to ere to the side of more antifreeze than water.
