Were all the '68 and '69 455s red?

Were all the '68 and '69 455s red?

I believe the Hurst cars had red 455s. Did the 88 and 98 cars have red 455s as well? Thanks. Tom

Yes. All RWD 455s for 68-69 were red.

Sounds like you have had an engine change or somebody painted it the wrong color. Most of the 455's you see are blue.

And is it the original paint? What did it come out of? Toro motors were pale blue. That's why I specified RWD 455s.

Thanks for the info. Though not 'correct', I've decided to make my '72 455 Red as well. It does have pistons out of a '68 at least...

Was the 68 - 69 Toronado blue the same as the 70 and later metallic blue?

I had an original 68 455 (from an 88) when I was a kid and it was red.

No the Toro was a much lighter blue than the later 455 blue.

I think in 71 on all the 455's were the dark blue...

No, it was a pale non-metallic grey-blue as used on the Toro 425s of prior years.
