What year and model?
It is called a "heater valve" and for a 72 Cutlass, they are available at Napa and other local shops. Rockauto should have them also online.

I bought a new one at O'Reillys for about $25. It was in their computer under "heater core."

Also available at Supercars Unlimited, but a bit pricey (especially for '68 V8s).

68-70 should be the same.

They are not all alike. Some the vacuum holds them open, and some the vacuum holds them closed.

Those things are stupid. I have provided a diagram to help you fix your problem, and keep 75 dollars in beer money.

Don't bother cutting it off. You can go to your local hardware store and get a brass nipple to fit that size pipe thread. It will cost aobut $10 but it will fit the threads and it will have a serrated male fitting so you can put a heater hose on it.

Those threads are different sizes for different intakes as well. My guess would be a 1" npt.

I'm going to have to disagree with Oldsmobrother64, and recommend you just hack it off on car. Less wrenching, and less trips to the hardware store. If you try to twist it out as a whole unit, it'll probably just break or twist up the pipe.

J does have a point. If you hack it off it would be cheaper too. I have one of those frozen solid on the intake of my 455 that came out of my 71 98. I tried a cheater bar, PB blaster and vise grips. It is stuck. So, I just bought a new one for the engine that went in my car.

I bought one that was a 1/2" taller than stock so check out any clearance issues when you replace ...
