Water pump ID and pics

According to my wife's grandpap, the 442 also needs a water pump. Thing is the one that's on there looks like the newest item under the hood. So, I'm thinking it is possible that it has been replaced. I looked for the "X" on it and did not find, so that means that this isn't original right?

Took tons of pics of what I could get to:

Lack of ID marks indicates aftermarket pump

You can also use the somewhat more common "O" 400___ water pump in that application, or get another generic like you have now.

So how do I know this one is good or bad? Just eventually get it going and test for leaks and temp. rise? Is it easy to change out? Doesn't look bad to me except for that fan in the way.

usually they leak from the snout, there is a small hole on the underside of it. or if its loose with a bad bearing, but if neither and its not noisy then i would leave it on

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to getting this car moving. Got a new fuel tank yesterday and it needs filled up.
