Valve Cover Question
I am replacing the SB in my 72 Supreme wit a 455. Was there a difference in the valve covers between the SB and BB engines? The 455 had aftermarket covers that I won't be using and I would like to put the ones off the 350 and use those temporarily until I can get budgeted for a nice Offy set. It is an AC car as well. Will the SB covers fit or will they hit anything?

Some people have modified their AC box and gone to a different smaller size booster in order to accomadate aftermarket or taller valve covers, in a A body. I sourced some notched VCs like Adams pic shows. The SBO VCs are the same without the notch, they might fit but it's pretty tight w the notched ones so IDK if you will be able to remove the VCs easily w the engine installed

See...I swapped a 455 into a 1970 Cutlass S about 25 years ago that was an A/C car with power brakes. I used the valve covers from a 350 and I didn't modify a thing. It never hit the A/C box or the brake booster. The 455 that was in my 442 was also wearing standard valve covers when I got it (back) and there were no clearance issues. So I'm not really sure why any modifications would be needed to use standard valve covers. Are they tight? Sure. Do they make contact? Not that I have seen.
