Question Which timing chain would you buy?

Replacing original timing chain on my '77 GMC Moterhome's 455.

Any advise on which timing chain to purchase and the part number?

Was told to look for Cloyes 9-3113, Melling 40409, or S.A. Gear 78113.

Seems the Cloyes is MIA. The Melling is at $80. The S.A. is $64. Not that price matters, looking for quality.

This isn't a full rebuild, just freashing up a bit. Doubtful I will do a complete rebuild later on.

Thanks
JR

I used this one because of the ability to advance/retard in 2 degree increments: Cloyes Street Billet True Roller Timing Sets 9-3513X9 - $89.99

If price isn’t an issue, I would wonder why you list the prices, hmmm.
The Cloyes 9-3513-x9 or the 9-3613-x9 are your best choices. They’re normally the most accurate.
And I think a ‘77 would’ve come with a 403, correct?

Thanks. I have an early build "77. They changed to 403 later in the year.

Not sure where you got the Cloyes part number ? I come up with a C3082 I will double check in the morning at the shop. You do not need anything special. The stock replacement timing set will outlast you. For your application the double roller chain is a waste of money.

Just my opinion

Thanks Bill. That's what I was thinking also. Appreciate the part number. Looking forward to it.

I just thought about the fact that we are closed tomorrow I might run by the shop at one point anyway. If i do i will double check the part number. Cloyes really does not have a good online lookup but I am pretty sure that is the correct number.

My issue with the 3 keyway stuff is accuracy. They tend to be off enough to make a difference sometimes. Just sayin.
