Think I made a hose mistake

Had to take my carb off today, in doing so a hose I can't identify broke from dry-rot.

I think this was the vacuum hose for the power-brakes. The hose that came off was labelled "Swan L.D. Vacuum Brake Hose FB-1", though I doubted this was the original hose.

I bought a hose labelled '3/8" Low Emission Fuel Injection' It fits just fine, but the sidewall is a lot thinner and I can collapse it if I push hard enough. Guessing I need to source a better vacuum rated hose, but before I spend twice I thought I'd ask to make sure I'm not just wasting money.

Pictures of the attachment, the original hose, and my replacement.

Unless I'm mistaken on the idea that is the hose to the brake booster (I really thought the service manual would be more helpful here), I seem to have answered my own question with this website: https://techtalk.mpbrakes.com/how-to...r-brake-system ... now I just need to find the right hose somewhere because I did specifically ask for vacuum hose and they didn't have it.

If it is the correct size it will probably work fine. Most of the hose I have seen in parts stores lately has been marked fuel / vacuum. As long as it doesn't collapse it should work perfectly.

I use fuel injection hose on my booster, it's been there for 7 years now.

Thanks both, it does fit snug and I took it for a drive, pedals feel fine. That said I found some vacuum rated hose with free shipping so I'll swap it out eventually.

For future reference, vacuum hose comes in 64th and 32nd inch increments. (I. E. 5/64, 7/64, 9/64) Once you get to the bigger sizes it switches to 32nds (11/32, 13/32, 15/32 etc). So if you asked for 3/8 vacuum hose, then what you actually need is 11/32. (That's a 32nd smaller than 3/8")

May want to check the condition of your other vacuum hoses, etc., for signs of oil saturation/swelling/dry rot, etc., and replace those too as a might as well.

Just in case.

No intention of plugging my parts for sale here. I found this really nice, original looking (smooth outer wall) 11/32" I.D. vacuum hose I'm using for my intake to brake vacuum booster. Depending on your intention, something like this may be the way to go.

Heater system needs it for sure. Will inspect the rest.

Struggling to source some multi color stuff for the heat controls so I can trace the system easier. (Also can't decide if it's 5/64 or 7/64 for those, need to get some samples and test)
