Thermostat selection

Are there any reliable and trustworthy thermostat brands out there anymore? What do you all use? I am finishing up the recently dyno'ed 469 and need to pull the housing a final time and put in a thermostat. I usually had a few laying around, but I haven't needed one in a long time and I don't seem to have anything new.

Suggestions for a good brand easily bought?
Thanks all,

I believe Stant products are good products.

I was just reading this thread
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...otorad-170578/

And found out Motorad bought out Stant. I may go with the Robertshaw/Flowkooler one.

I have been in the heavy equipment industry for some time now. I use a John Deere thermostat. 180 degree that fits in their dozers. Never seen one fail. If interested, the PN is DZ100555

The Robert Shaw & John Deere thermostats are the same kind that go in my Ford diesel truck. Currently, I have a Motorcraft part in my diesel truck, but MotorRad 423180 is the same part.

I stick with the Robert Shaw high-flow style (or the private labeled ones like Mr. Gasket or flowkooler) . Ironically, that was the OEM design in my parents ski boat with a Ford 351. It stuck this summer (30 years old), the marina only sold the generic thermostat type that we commonly see. Instead of running around 10*F higher than the thermostat rating on the gauge, the boat was running 30*F above the thermostat rating with the new one, especially when skiing. Pulled that junk right back out to go back to the balanced flow design.

Thanks Luke! I think that clinches it for me. I'll get one and test it in a pot of water with a thermocouple to my digital meter before I use it just to make sure all is good.

As an aside, as a 16 year old who bought his first car (1970 Impala with a 454, not the SS), I had an out of box failed parts store thermostat. So I took it back and they claimed I didn't know what I was talking about. I told them I had put it in a pot of water on the stove next to another one I had and theirs didn't open but the other one did. They exchanged it. This was in summer of 1981. That was my first car.
