Steel shim head gaskets

Finally going to use my nos GM steel shim head gaskets, should I coat both sides with copper spray? Was going to put a light skim of rtv around the cooling passages. Looking for some advice. Thanks

You can coat them with copper aerosol spray or any other aerosol gasket sealer. Should not be necessary to use RTV around the cooling passages. Have the cylinder heads been checked for flatness?

Shim head gaskets

Heads are flat, cast iron "C" castings ported by mondello back in the early 90s, block is all original GM assembled out of a 70 Vista with approx 70k on it.

I'd confirm that the block and head are flat straight, use copper spray on both sides. No RTV.
