Stant Brand Thermostat is Motorad
Yesterday the Stant Superstat 180-degree thermostat for my 1969 442 arrived from Amazon. I was disappointed to see the thermostat was manufactured by Motorad and made in Isreal.
I would have purchased a Motorad if that is the brand I wanted; I wanted a Stant! When did Stant thermostats become Motorad thermostats in a Stand box?
Has anyone had experience with a Motorad thermostat?

I always test new thermostats in a pan of boiling water. Several months ago, when the thermostat on my 75 Olds stuck, I put the new one and the old one in a pan of boiling water with a thermometer in it. The new one opened right at 180 degrees and the old one never opened. My buddy Rob gave me the new thermostat and I don't remember the brand.

Same thing happened to me. I use the Stant superstats. I received the same thing. Motorad cheap junk. I went to a local mom and pop parts store and found some old stock. What a big difference when comparing the real superstat and the motorad garbage side by side.

I had a Robert Shaw USA made one fail with in 6 months. Took me a while of playing around and getting a new correct style radiator cap, which did no solve the issue. Replaced with a Chinese one from auto value it's been doing a great job for 9 years.

From what I understand Motorad bought out Stant and they are no longer selling the better quality product. Gates would be next in line, but are extremely hard to come by in my area. I have resorted to dealer parts & longer wait times for a better quality part. I have tested brand new Motorad gas caps in our Emissions machine & they fail right out of the box. Imagine holding a car for a day over a gas cap to prevent a come back. This is the world I live in.
