Real world HP estimate
Real world HP estimate
I haven't been able to find any HP estimators online that don't require 1/4times and car weight. I know whe have plenty of guys here that have built perfomrance motors, so I was wondering if someone could give me a rough estimate of HP at the flywheel or rearwheel
I have a 455 30 over with mildly ported C heads. The crank is -.010 under, block decked -.004. I have an Edlebrock performer intake with FAST Ez-EFI. The cam is Comp XE262H 218/224@.050 and 1.6 Magnum rockers. It doesn't have the best pistons which are Speed Pro 2390 low comp. Melling HV oil pump and Canton racing pan with Milodon windage tray. I will be running 1 3/4 headers and 3" magnaflow exhaust with x pipe. The trans is a 4L80e
I know I could have gone higher coompression on the pistons, but its what I could afford at the time when started this a cpl ago. I'm hoping 350-375 at least the wheels, but any real world feedback offered would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Gotta agree with maybe 300 rear wheel hp, as truth is, with all of the advertising hype of hp ratings in the 60's musclecar days, 325 rear wheel hp was a rarity. Only a chassis dyno will tell. Nice tranny you've got, as my slightly stronger 455 build has a 4L60 non E, and is fine on street tires. HP ratings are the real deal now days, as have a ZO6 Corvette with 505 SAE hp, and about 460 Rear wheel hp on the chassis dyno, pushing 3100 lbs curb weight. Don't mess with one of these.
