quadrajet pace car 1970

well here is my first question on my car. after looking over my car and checking numbers i have found there is no numbers on the quadrajet to identify what it is. {driver side right rear corner of carb vertical} is this a service carb? car is a 1970 442 pace car 455ci, after research here i believe the correct carb is a 7040257. is it possible the pace cars used a different carb? any 70 pace car guys out there that would know? thanks for any and all info.

I have two books, and neither says anything different about pace car. The number you listed is the number, I also believe is correct.

yep probably a replacement carb and yep 7040257 is for the 455 442. I have also read that the 257 when used on a-bodies is for OAI motors and the 7040251 is used for non OAI but I have yet to find documentation about that

The 257 is correct for the OAI automatic 442's & pace cars. I have seen some non-OAI automatic 442's that came with the 251,and I have also found this same pattern on the 71 442's with non-OAI and automatic, having the 7041251 vs the 7041257.
