A recent flush job caused my cooling system to just start leaking like a sieve...hoses, heater core, freeze plugs, water pump shaft, radiator ports, etc. Whomever ran tap water though this truck should be MURDERED.

This 455 is in my 54 GMC 2 1/2 ton so there's LOTS of room in the engine bay to work with. Just for the record, this pic was taken before I even owned the truck so it's a lot cleaner now.



I need to just GET ER DONE and be finished with my cooling system woes. First place to start is the freeze plugs. As you can see, most are easy for me to get to. But aren't there some that are covered up by the tranny?
It's a Th400.

 

Three on each side of the block, and above those, two on each head just outboard of the exhaust ports. No water freeze plugs in the bellhousing, only one going into the crankcase with the pipe plug/oil squirter for the distributor gear behind it, and one behind the camshaft. There is also a pipe plug for the other oil galley back there.

 

The words, "neglect", "abuse", and "negligent homicide" come to mind when I seen this photo.
