Quadrajet to 65 Air cleaner?

Is there a way to run the '65 air cleaners(which fit the 4GC) with a quadrajet carb?
Will the 66 base fit the 65 lid?

Or is there and adapter? ...I can't imaging that's good for performance.

You could run a base from any of the 14” open element base and filter then put the 65 snorkel lid, should work like a open element.

A 66 or 67 base will work under the 65 lid. No issues.

The lids are the same diameter. The snorkel is bigger on the 442.

The lids will work as per the answers above. The bottoms of the air cleaners will not fit because the air horn opening is smaller on the 4GC air cleaners. It will not fit a Q-jet carb. There are adapters made to adapt the small air cleaner to the larger Q-jet air horne.

I have no idea what the previous own used. I can’t see any markings on the base bottom to help pin point what it is. All I know is I need two more lol

this is on a Holly carb

The '65 442 came with a q-jet late in the year. Bro 442 website has this info, my '65 was built in August and had q-jet on it.

This is not "correct" but it will work. The late 67 air cleaner, see my avatar, has no chimney and it gets air because it has a 4 speed open element base under it and the upper piece just hangs out into thin air the whole way around. This could be done temporarily until you found the right base with your 65 upper, it's just that the chimney would not pull (which might be better flow anyway) and there will be a little more torque on the air cleaner element and stud from the moment arm of the chimney not being held up by the base.

I will caution you, finding the center hole on an air cleaner lid that has no bottom lip to anchor to is worse than landing an LP on a spindle in a dim room when you're three stiff ones in already.
