POR-15 Manifold Paint Before&After

I had my W-Z manifolds blasted and I treated w/POR-15.
It was pretty easy to use cleaner, metel prep and paint then cured in my wifes oven shhhh....

Very nice, I am getting ready to do my engine block and headers with the Por-15 high heat stuff, I haven't used the metal prep yet.

Was the curing necessary, did I miss something when I read the directions?

No, it can cure on the car after you put them back on. I would have done my block too but they don't have bronze engine paint just gold.
Good luck and wear gloves.

Thanks!

My car is not original and as much as I love the gold and bronze Olds engines, I just want to make it look clean and presentable and start driving her again.

Thanks for the gloves headsup!

Por-15

Be forewarned, I think it's a great product but it's also very harmful if not handled properly. Gloves have already been mentioned but you'll need to be mindful of the vapors also...it comes with a complete sheet of necessary precautions and they should be heeded...it's not playdough you're messing with...it's the real deal and should be respected as such! If you get it on your skin, it won't come off until the skin falls off! Common sense really but you need to realize that stuff can be hazardous to your health...same as smoking, drinking, driving too fast, eating too many cheeseburgers, etc, etc.

lol I did not realize the original posts were a year ago..... thanks nonhog lol.... I never tried the high heat POR15 , but had good luck using the regular stuff ( saved my car from rusting away ) that stuff is real tough...... after a year with only one coat in the trunk pockets and the radiator support , you can sandblast the stuff and it dont come off.... now thats tough

DISCLAIMER:
DO NOT INTERNALLY INGEST POR15 MANIFOLD PAINT OR ANY OTHER PAINT. BAD THINGS MAY HAPPEN.

I could see the site owner getting sued by someone who actually tries that.

On the flip side, the POR15 Olds Gold engine paint DOES look alot like honey..................

It still looks great, if I had to do it over I would have used the high heat por putty to fill in some of the pits and then por over that.

they have a putty ? I wonder how that holds up , cause I have some chassis parts that are pretty pitted up and i'd like to smooth them out a little.

That manifold paint is thick as molasses - I would think it would fill in the gaps on its own. I will give two coats and see what happens. I mistakingly bought a pint, which is enough for 10 cars it seems...
