Rocker arm noise

I installed some edelbrock basic performance series chrome valve cover on my stock build 455 and while I was doing that I change the oil and put in some rotellia heavy duty 15w-40 oil since I live in north louisiana and it has been in the 100's since May. I figure the thicker oil would not break down as easy. But when I start the engine in the morning on a cold start I hear a slight bit of rocker arm noise. I'm not sure if they are not getting oil fast enough or they are hitting the valve covers or did the thicker stock covers kept the noise quiet. Heeeeeeeeeellllllp!!!!

Pull the covers one at a time and listen. If no noise, double the gaskets.
I use weatherstrip adhesive to the cover, on the two together, and axle grease on the heads, so they don't stick.

X2- If thats all you've done then they are probably hitting the cover or baffle.

rocker arm noise

If the rocker arms are hitting the inside of the valve cover or the baffle will this cause any damage to my rocker arms over a extended period of time.

Its not going to be any good for it thats for sure. Most likely won't hurt the rocker but could take out the pushrods.

FYI, Rotella is no longer a high zinc/phosphate oil. It now meets the criteria of other auto oils designed to be used with catalytic converters and the diesel particulate filters. I would consider using a high quality 20W-50 racing oil with a high zinc content if you are worried about oil pressure on a hot day.
