Performer with OAI air cleaner, Who has done it?

If I understand correctly, I am thinking E-Brock Performer is 1 1/2 inches taller than stock intake on a 455.

I have seen lots of discussion on having the performer and the OAI flapper assembly, and that it can be done with a drop base, but who has done it? pics specs?

Has anyone milled the carb base by say 3/4 -1 inch. ( I know it's crazy, you loose the some of the intake's benefit by making the air/fuel flow make a tighter turn into the ports. However, how much turbulence is created in the air cleaner assembly when not at WOT, and the flapper is not fully engaged?) In other words, would you give up 5 to 10 horses on high end rpms, vs giving up 5 to 10 horses at lower rpms because of drop base?

Also, how does the A/C brackets fit with a performer?

I know the 04b in a spread bore is more of a direct fit, but I haven't found one yet.

I know I am probably over thinking this, but I need to make a decision soon, and just trying to weigh my options.

Me too

Inquiring minds want to know. I have a 70 Cutlass Convertible we are swapping in a 455. Would like to put OAI hood and air cleaner assembly on the car in not too distant future. Will the Edelbrock Performer 2151 work? Can it me made to work? Thank you.

Mill carb pad 1".

Remove the rubber gasket from the plastic OAI top.

This works, but is tight.
