Olds vs Pontiac 455 HEI distributors - is it just the cam gear that’s different?

Was checking into progression ignitions Bluetooth directed HEI distributors.
Among other whizzy things their HEI offers tunable electronically controlled spark advance, which, to me, seems to be a step forward over playing with vacuum cans to eliminate part throttle ping.
It sounds like they use a common circuit board across all the GM HEI distributors for spark firing, and depend on the user to tune the advance with their Bluetooth-enabled device (generally a phone)
They’re fresh out of Oldsmobile HEI distributors until July. Which ain’t that long to wait. But,
I thought I’d check with CO on buying a Pontiac distributor & substituting the Oldsmobile cam gear. 1 roll pin and 1 cam gear and I’m potentially in business.
It seems a very simple substitution, but I wanted to get your views on whether this might work.
Stupid idea?
Thanks in advance for your views.
