Oil pressure Pegging the Ralley Pac guage.

Just finished up my 455 build. Along with restricted cam bearing feeds I'm running a Melling Hi Vol oil pump with the spring and slug to increase pressure from Dick Miller.
Now my Ralley Pac Oil guage is pegged Hi all the time.
Is there a way adjust the gauge reading so it's not at full peg all the time?

Is it pegged with the engine off and key on?

You can change sending units to one that is calibrated for a 80psi gauge. If you look on the fitting that threads into the block you will probably find that it is stamped with the number 60. That means its calibrated for a 60 psi gauge. Keep in mind, if your gauge only reads to 60, and you use a sending unit for a 80, the actual reading will be kinda useless. Hopefully yours read H and L. Either way, having the guage pegged isnt a big deal.

What weight oil do you have in it? What are your bearing clearances?

I have owned many cars with the rally pac setup, all of them would peg the gauge on a cold startup, and engine that habe been modified would run more than 60 psi at typical highway speed. If the sending unit and gauge arent calibrated to work togetjer, the actual numbers are meaningless. In that case, as long as you know and understand wjat the NORMAL reading is, y9u know something isnt right when the gauge doesnt read what it normally does. Obviously, having accurate numbers would be preferred.

Break in oil 5-30wt. clearances are on the loose side but within build tolerances

If you're running 5w-30 etc then I'm betting the gauge is wrong/broken. Put a mechanical gauge on it and see what it really is.
