Oil Filter Adapters

Uh, RWD V8, FWD V8, and diesel? Actually, I guess there would be two diesel versions, one for RWD and one for FWD, so that would be at least four. By the way, the diesel versions have fittings for plumbing an external oil cooler.

Joe, im beginning to wonder if mine is the diesel fwd. Link above shows a much longer version.
I just double checked the adapter, it lines up to the block. I was beginning to wonder.

I would assume that the Toro diesel adapters would have the same angle as the gas engine ones, which is different from the RWD adapters to clear the passenger side starter on the Toro. I'm also interested in the two different lengths of the diesel adapters. I wonder if the ones used in the Chevy truck applications were different for some reason?
Also, let's not forget the diesel V6, which was used in both RWD and FWD transverse applications. I don't recall if the V6 used a separate oil filter adapter or not - I have this hazy recollection that the oil filter pad was integral to the block on those engines, but I really don't remember.

OK, an update. The FWD version of the V6 diesel DID use an integral oil filter mount as seen in this photo. Of course, that version also used the GM metric bellhousing bolt pattern. Don't know about the RWD versions, however.

Joe, i need to get my hands on the "other" diesel adapter and compare it to what i have. I am really beginning to wonder. I did a google on the part number but no luck.
Did you just happen to have a V6 diesel hanging around?

No, I stole that photo off the web (from someone who had swapped it into a Fiero!!!). I've only seen two V6 diesel cars in my life, both RWD G-bodies.

The one with the oil cooler outlets have a number:25010482 and the other one is marked with a Ink pen "Toronado". I dont know What they came from. I´m planning to use the oil cooler one in a future projekt.

The castings have very slight differences in them but the size is the same.
I would believe this is the std gas / non-toro adapter.
Joe, other pics of the diesel adapter have some sort of large fitting opposite where the cooler lines connect. The adapter i have does not have that fitting. ??????
