OAI intake manifold
The only aftermarket intake I'd know of would be the W-455 aluminum intakes offered by Parts Place.. They are the same deck as the factory issue, and would be a bolt in scenario. Other aluminum aftermarket intakes will require modification to the air cleaner or an aftermarket air cleaner that will drop the body enough to get clearance. I dropped my air cleaner body to make it happen with a Performer intake. It took a significant amount of metal work and careful measuring, but it looks right/sanitary and fits nicely. Maybe someone offers an out of the box version these days, I'm sure someone can shed some light on it.
Sure, please excuse the condition of my engine bay. The bodywork prep and blocking is not clean work. I will post some photos from underneath on the weekend, I'll be loading it up to go to the painter and am keeping the breather here at the house. I will also take pictures of a standard air cleaner body and try to give the drop dimensions. I used an aftermarket air cleaner base cut out, and created additional drop with raw sheet metal bent into a Z joggle and used a sheet metal shrinker/expander to make it fit the round contour of the base. I also welded the original rolled carb flange to the base to replicate the original base to make it more professional, and seal nicely. I also had to use a couple of the exhaust riser tubes spliced and blended to make it fit correctly. It is not going to fool any of the master judges nor many of the experts here, but it does fit/function nice and looks better than some of the alternatives.

Thanks to all for the info.
Liking the performer option if all is good except the highth. With a good press and a little ingenuity, I think I could turn the base over and press the carb flange in 1/2" which should lower the rest. Worth checking out.
Had considered an 04B but I don't think there is clearance for a standard HEI distributor
