Newbie 68 455 re build

Hello all, I am hoping to get some help on my piston and head selection for my 455. I am going to have a shop do the short block but I want to make sure I get the most bang for the buck.

My goal is a good cruisin car with good power. Not doing any drag racing but I want a car that does back up the 455 name plate.

Here is the pistons and heads I have been looking at:

Thanks again!

OK the picture shows a Crysler head, who cares, the point isn't if Summit Racing has thier web page perfect.

Are you sure you want to drop the $$ on the edelbrock heads? Keep in mind the price listed on summit is PER HEAD, not for a pair. If you're not going to be racing I don't think it's necessary. There are a few guys on here who have either solid stock cores or complete heads that would be a bolt-and-go option. Unless you want to be making more than 450-500 hp the aluminum heads aren't necessary. What are your goals for this motor? How much power, how high do you want to spin it, etc? I think Mongoose also has a set of nice, ready to run, complete big valve C heads and port matched intake he'd be willing to part with. Check with him or gearhead78. JMO, but I'd say go that route and spend the money you'll save on other parts.
