my 455 was scrap ... so I'm getting this lot tomorrow ...
Greeting from Australia.
I own a 67 Delta 88 Custom that we thought was running a 425, but on dismantling the engine the reconditioning guys found it was a 455 ... and that it was too far gone to recondition.
As you can imagine, oldsmobile motors aren't just "on the shelf" in the Land Down Under so I was faced with having to take the 425 out of a 66 Delta 88 coupe I had bought for it's motor... but once I recieved it I did not want to pull it apart.
Luckily I stumbled across someone selling pistons for a 455 on Australian Ebay so I emailed him to ask what else he had and the answer was ... A whole 455 motor in the middle of being reconditioned !
For your opinion, here is the list of what is with it...
Block & main caps(Acid cleaned)Bored & Honed +.040",
Crank,
Conrods(polished & shotpeened)
2 Sets +.040"Piston & Rings,
Camshaft(Crow 651 Regrind) with New cam bearings,
Rollmaster 9 keyway timing set,
Original-Alloy Intake Manifold (!),
Oil pump/pickup & shaft,
Harmonic Balancer,
timing cover,
Sump,
Heads with valves(2.060"In 1.650"Exh.)
Set New double valve springs/Retainers & collets,
Also Chromed- Rocker covers, front pully, timing Tab,Oil filler Neck,
Starter motor, Distributor.
What do you guys "in the know" think about these bits ?
I pick it all up tomorrow night and look forward to driving the car with this 455 in it.
thanks for looking at my thread
